We are seeking an Account Manager to join our Sales team in Ottawa!
The Account Manager will secure new business, provide account management to an existing customer base, and achieve sales and profit growth in the Ottawa and Kingston areas. The Account Manager will also provide day-to-day and operational service for clients.
Reporting to the Vice President, Sales, and working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment, the Account Manager will leverage their business acumen, relationship-building skills, and consultative approach to expand market presence, generate new opportunities, and deepen client engagement.
The primary focus of the role will be generating new revenue through proactive business development activities. This includes leveraging an established professional network within the insurance industry, identifying and qualifying prospective clients, developing strategic solutions, and successfully converting opportunities into long-term client partnerships. The Account Manager will also participate in the development of bids & proposals, presentations, and service agreements, and will lead negotiations through to contract execution.
In addition, the Account Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to an existing portfolio of clients, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction, identifying opportunities for service expansion, and supporting long-term account growth and retention.
This hybrid position combines office-based work, remote work from a dedicated home office, and regular travel for client meetings, site visits, trade shows, industry events, conferences, and other business development activities.

What You Will Do:
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in the assigned territory
- Develop and execute individual business development plans to achieve revenue and growth targets
- Build and maintain a strong network of prospects, referral partners, and industry contacts
- Generate qualified leads through networking, industry events, referrals, and prospecting activities
- Conduct client discovery meetings to understand business needs and recommend appropriate solutions
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and service agreements
- Lead contract negotiations and successfully close new business opportunities
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasts and updates
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing clients
- Build trusted advisor relationships with clients by understanding their business objectives and workforce challenges
- Conduct regular client meetings and business reviews to ensure service satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth
- Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and escalations
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to deliver high-quality solutions and exceptional client service
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional Xpera services
- Develop strong partnerships with internal teams to support client acquisition and retention
- Represent Xpera at industry events, trade shows, conferences, and networking functions
- Maintain market awareness of industry trends, client needs, and competitive offerings
What You Will Bring:
- Post secondary education in business, commerce, or a related field
- Intermediate to Senior level experience in B2B sales and account management, ideally within the insurance industry
- Strong understanding of sales strategies, processes, and the full sales cycle
- Provide ability to build credibility and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- CIP, CFE, CRM, or CSP designation are assets
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets, generating referrals, and maintaining a robust pipeline of qualified prospects
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify opportunities and improve the referrals process
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activities and track performance and dedication to data hygiene
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities and deadlines independently
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, monitor market trends, identify opportunities, and drive results
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences
- Collaborative team player with a strong focus on building internal and external partnerships
- Strong understanding of the insurance claims and investigations
- Ability to analyze and leverage KPIs to support business growth
- Active user of social media as a business development and relationship-building tool
- Demonstrated adaptability, continuous learning mindset, and commitment to professional growth
