What do you offer?
The After School Program Supervisor is responsible for the administrative operations of the YMCA Afterschool Program for children aged 4-14. The ASP Supervisor focuses on the quality experiences for children that focus on the Y’s core values: excellence, compassion, dignity, accountability and inclusion. The ASP Supervisor provides administrative oversight for program registrations and communications with families and gives leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers in the Afterschool Program and is accountable for the quality and compliance of program delivery, ensuring adherence to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Y, curriculum standards and legislative requirements.
Some of the tasks of this position include:
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on program development
- Expense tracking related to program initiatives
- Participate in community and sector roundtables to represent the YMCA and influence system-level practices
- Work collaboratively with Child Care Department Regional Managers, Program Managers, After School Facilitators and external support teams
- Facilitate training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities as it relates to after school programming
- Seek opportunities to deepen connections and increase engagement of parents and children in care, providing further opportunities to get involved in other YMCA programs, including ongoing professional development
- Balance multiple priorities including quality improvement, inclusion support, compliance, and stakeholder engagement
- Lead reflective practice and supports teams in adapting to diverse and complex needs of children and families
What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:
Education
- Diploma in Child and Youth Care or a diploma/degree in social work, psychology, sociology, kinesiology with a focus/experience working with children aged 4 to 14 years old.
- RECE or equivalent is required
Language
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Other languages are also an asset
Experience, Skills and Abilities
- A member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
- Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Knowledge of budgeting
- Strong time management and problem solving skills
- Previous management experience and experience with diverse populations
- Ability to physically move around frequently, including bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs
Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
