Role Description
The Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the business. Day-to-day tasks include recording and reconciling transactions, processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing journal entries, and assisting with monthly and year-end closing activities. The role also involves generating and reviewing financial statements, supporting budgeting and cash flow tracking, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. The Bookkeeper will collaborate with management to provide clear financial insights that support decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll: In-house processing with cheques for four small businesses; PD7A remittances and T4 annual filings; ZR Auto WCB annual filing; ROE issuance; health and retirement benefit administration.
Full Cycle Bookkeeping: Revenue recognition (daily transactions, online sales platforms); Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable; intercompany transactions; GST report preparation for external accountant; year-end package preparation for external accountant; tracking leases and loans.
Reconciliations: Several credit card and bank accounts; three PayPal accounts; intercompany accounts; loans; semi-annual AHS document submissions.
Qualifications & Experience: Experience in the auto and retail business industries an asset but not strictly required. Knowledge of CRA Represent a Client portal and Alberta Employment Standards required.
Software Skills: Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and MS Workspace required. Experience with auto and retail software an asset but not strictly required.
