About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join McKesson's Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) DI Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This role involves designing and developing advanced data solutions, products, and insights that support strategic business initiatives. The Senior Data Engineer will work collaboratively across multiple teams, including data scientists, analysts, BI developers, and architecture teams, to create scalable, governed, and high-quality data products. This position plays a crucial role in modernizing our supply chain operations by enabling rapid AI/ML experimentation, operationalizing successful use cases, and monetizing insights to drive business value.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data architecture, cloud-native data engineering, and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex business problems. This role offers an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide data strategies, promote best practices, and lead innovative projects that impact the future of healthcare supply chain management.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of extensive experience in data engineering, with proven expertise in building and maintaining data solutions and products. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in data architecture, enabling the creation of enterprise data solutions that are scalable, reliable, and aligned with organizational standards.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake data warehousing solutions is essential. Familiarity with data modeling, metadata management, and data governance frameworks is highly desirable. Certification in relevant cloud services and data management tools will be considered an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-native data applications and pipelines utilizing Azure and Databricks to support advanced analytics and digital transformation initiatives across pharmaceutical business domains.
- Lead and manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products, ensuring adherence to data quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to ensure data product designs align with enterprise architecture standards, data governance policies, and best practices.
- Define, enforce, and promote best practices for data quality, scalability, and system performance, providing technical mentorship to global engineering teams.
- Establish standardized data models, ontologies, and semantic structures to facilitate interoperability and consistency across various data domains.
- Apply AI-enabled SDLC practices and automation techniques to enhance development efficiency, reduce technical debt, and accelerate time-to-market for data solutions.
- Drive data integration efforts across multiple platforms, champion modernization initiatives using Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
