Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. The primary goal of your position is to provide prints and services to the Engineering and Operation Departments in the form of Developing drill and blast deliverables, Providing Drill and Blast related services to the Mine operations, Blasting Quality Assurance/Quality Control services, Support to the D&B engineer to drive the optimization initiatives, and Data compilation related to drill and blast. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Provide drill and blast prints in a timely manner (Stope preparation, Drilling, Loading, timing, mucking, Guard maps etc.);
- Establish daily needs and priorities for production needs;
- Update and verify entry within the database;
- Perform QA/QC for drilling, loading, timing. Includes the seismograph for vibration control;
- Set up and retrieve seismic sensor UG for stope vibrations;
- Compile the UG drill and blast data for MOM and EOM;
- Support on special projects with the guidance of D&B engineers;
- Identify gaps and propose optimization initiatives related to D&B practices;
- Cover for Drill and blast Engineer;
- Support on the production of Monthly D&B reports;
- Promote Health and Safety in meetings and day to day tasks.
What You Need To Succeed
- College degree in Mine Engineering/Technology or higher;
- 2+ years’ experience in the mining industry;
- Ontario Common Core or Québec FMTM modules are an asset;
- Previous experience in drill & blast will be highly regarded, particularly in gold mining;
- Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, AutoCAD, and mine design/planning software. Knowledge of the Deswik software is an asset;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
