High Level is located in MacKenzie County, eight hours north of Edmonton and three hours from the Northwest Territories border. It has a population of approximately 4,000 residents. Being so far north offers almost twenty-four hours of sunlight daily in summer and beautiful Aurora Borealis in winter. The town has a core of community services, in addition to many enjoyable amenities. This developmental opportunity as a Care Aide Learner in Long Term Care comes with a cohesive and caring team and many opportunities to develop practice. We are looking for an empathic, curious and hardworking individual looking to become a Health Care Aide to join our team to learn about practice in a long term care setting. While this posting is temporary, this position could become permanent in the near future.
Description:
The Care Aide Learner position provides an opportunity for students enrolled in an approved Alberta Health Care Aide certificate program to consolidate their knowledge and skills towards competency in the range and complexity of the Health Care Aide. As an unregulated member of the collaborative healthcare team and under the supervision of a regulated nursing professional, you will provide personal assistance such as supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. The activities performed, and level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, organizational policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and competency of the Care Aide Learner.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:
Candidates must either be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. Candidates must meet the English requirements of enrolment in a College. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, [COMPANY] currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
