As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
12 months or more of Home Care Case Management experience within the last 2 years. Knowledge of and skills in applying Home Care Nursing Practice Standards. Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Negotiating skills with clients, caregivers and families. Family assessment skills. Effective oral and written communication. Working independently and as member of a team. Working with people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Positive approach and good listening skills in dealing with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Understanding of principles of Palliative Care. Knowledge of Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Program. Must have valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Ability to be on call as required. Ability to perform all assigned tasks and direct clinical care including but not limited to: Constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift. Physical exertion including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods of time. Keyboarding/mousing documentations for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Recent geriatric clinical experience. Connect Care experience.

Requirements

The role also requires knowledge of home care and continuing care standards, strong communication and assessment skills, a valid driver's license and vehicle, and the ability to work on call; a nursing bachelor's degree and recent geriatric experience are preferred.
