Your Opportunity:
This unique opportunity at the SCH will recruit graduated Registered Nurses into the Critical Care program. The Transitional Grad Program is a 9-month experience where you will be paired with an experienced mentor as you work to transition into practice. Upon the conclusion of this 9-month period, you are encouraged to apply on vacant nursing position within SCH Critical Care. The Graduate Nurse will be guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, AHS job description, & will be supported by their mentor. To excel in a busy & ever-changing healthcare environment, the Graduate Nurse will need to be patient, calm under pressure, agile, organized, & empathetic. The position is physically demanding including bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting and mobilizing bariatric patients. Shift work is required.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:
N95 fit test must be up to date. Demonstrated ability to meet the physical demands of the position is required, including frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, overhead lifting, and assisting with the mobilization, transfer, and repositioning of patients, including bariatric patients.
