Union: ONA PMH Number of Vacancies: 2 Replacement or New: Replacement Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Department: Palliative Care Unit (16P) Reports to: Nurse Manager Wage Range: $41.15 - $58.98 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable) Hours: Variable as required Shifts: Variable as required - 12 hour Shifts - Days/ Nights/ Weekends/ Holidays Status: Casual As a member multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN. Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure. Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession. Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care. Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying nursing knowledge and clinical judgment in accordance with professional standards and UHN policies. Maintain and improve practice through reflective evaluation and continuing education, and perform other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification are required. Candidates must be able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team and meet the role’s physical requirements; strong communication, decision-making, organizational, time-management, and computer skills are required, while a BScN is preferred.
