Union: SEIU New or Replacement: Replacement Site: Toronto General Hospital Department: Emergency Department Reports to: Nurse Manager Wage Range: $37.33 - $38.16 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements) Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week Shifts: Days/Nights/Weekends/Stat Holidays Status: Permanent Full-TimeApplying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN. Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure. Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession. Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care. Performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested.Current Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario required Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required Evidence of continuing education in Emergency and/or critical care nursing preferred Excellent interpersonal and decision making skills 2+ years recent Emergency or Acute Care nursing experience preferred Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferredWhy join UHN? Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care in the Emergency Department, applying nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and sound decision-making. Maintain practice in accordance with professional and ethical standards, pursue continuing education, and evaluate and adapt practice to improve patient care.
Requirements
Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification are required. Recent Emergency or Acute Care nursing experience of at least two years and continuing education in Emergency or critical care nursing are preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course certifications are also preferred.
