POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Senior Technology Specialist responsible for the delivery, automation, and operational support of enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platforms. The successful candidate will combine strong infrastructure expertise with modern automation practices to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable services across hybrid environments.
This role focuses on the operational support, automation, and continuous improvement of enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Linux platforms. Current responsibilities include support and administration of: Omnissa Horizon and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
The successful candidate will also participate in the evaluation, implementation, and support of future VDI technologies, which may include cloud-based and hybrid workspace platforms.
The specialist will leverage Ansible Automation Platform, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Python, and API-driven integrations to automate operational processes, improve platform reliability, and reduce manual effort.
As a member of the Server Ops team, you will play a key role in delivering, automating, and supporting enterprise Linux and Virtual Desktop platforms. You will contribute to infrastructure modernization initiatives, improve operational efficiency through automation, and help shape future Virtual Desktop solutions as the organization evaluates next-generation end-user computing technologies.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- Support and administer enterprise VDI platforms
- Manage and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure, desktop images, user provisioning, platform health, capacity, and performance.
- Troubleshoot platform, user experience, and application delivery issues.
- Support and enhance the existing Omnissa Horizon environment.
- Participate in the assessment, implementation, and operational support of future VDI solutions.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver reliable and secure workspace services.
- Participate in platform upgrades, maintenance activities, and service improvement initiatives.
Linux Platform Operations
- Provide operational support for enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Manage Linux infrastructure lifecycle activities: (Provisioning, Patching, Security hardening, Operating system upgrades, Decommissioning)
- Support Linux workloads across On-premises data centers, VMware-based environments and AWS cloud platforms
- Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation of production incidents.
- Participate in operational support and major incident response activities.
- Maintain platform standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
Automation & Platform Services
- Develop and maintain Ansible Automation Platform: (Playbooks, Roles, Workflow Templates, Dynamic Inventories, Self-Service Automation Workflows)
- Automate provisioning, patching, configuration management, and compliance validation processes.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Python.
- Integrate infrastructure services with enterprise platforms through APIs and automation workflows.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency through automation.
CI/CD & DevOps
- Design and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure and platform deployments.
- Implement:
- Automated testing
- Infrastructure validation
- Compliance verification
- Approval workflows
- Environment promotion processes
- Maintain Git repositories and participate in code review processes.
- Promote DevOps and GitOps best practices across infrastructure services.
Platform Engineering & Reliability
- Build and maintain automated image pipelines.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Improve platform observability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Develop automation to proactively detect and remediate common operational issues.
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify and modernize infrastructure operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
- Experience supporting environments hosted in AWS, Azure, VMware-based, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Experience supporting one or more enterprise VDI platforms such as: Omnissa Horizon / VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AWS WorkSpaces, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix DaaS.
- Strong sense of ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with infrastructure, security, application, end-user computing, and service management teams.
- Customer-service orientation, with a focus on employee experience, business continuity, and operational excellence.

- Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience with: Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and Artificial Intelligence
- Experience developing automation solutions to support infrastructure operations, platform lifecycle management, and service delivery.
- Experience with: Azure DevOps, Pipelines, Automated testing practices, Code review processes.
- Strong knowledge of: System administration, Performance troubleshooting, Security hardening, Enterprise patch management, Operating system lifecycle management.
- Experience with: Microsoft Entra ID, HashiCorp Packer, ITSM and API integrations, Event-driven automation, Self-healing infrastructure designs, Workspace performance monitoring and optimization.
- Certifications are considered an asset: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Certification, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140).
