Human Resources – Dispatch Clerk
TEMPORARY TERM (10-Month) POSITION – until return of incumbent
Monday to Friday, 06:30-14:00; must be flexible with start/end times
The Human Resources – Dispatch Clerk plays a key role within the Human Resources Department by supporting the staffing and daily operational needs of Burnaby School District. This position is responsible for coordinating substitute teacher and support staff placements, maintaining staffing records, and supporting workforce planning activities that ensure schools are staffed effectively each day.
Working closely with Human Resources staff, school administrators, and employees across the district, the Dispatch Clerk gains valuable experience in employee scheduling, workforce coordination, attendance management processes, data reporting, and customer service. This position offers an excellent entry point for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources, education administration, or business operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Determines daily vacancies, selects and contacts appropriate replacements and confirms arrangements with schools for Teachers and support staff to meet the needs of the district
- Enters a variety of data from a variety of source materials and checks for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains office records and produces related reports (e.g. teacher-on-call usage, teacher absenteeism, and other statistics).
- Performs a variety of general clerical duties.
- Operates a variety of office equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- One year clerical work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Thorough knowledge of computer and software applications related to work performed.
- Sound knowledge of office procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.
This is a 10-month position working 35 hours/week. Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 06:30-14:00, but candidate must be flexible with the start/end times. The hourly rate of pay is $33.52 per hour.
