Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Millwright / 433A Millwright to join a well-established manufacturing operation.
This is a hands-on maintenance position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving industrial machinery and production equipment. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and practical experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and production equipment.
Candidates should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with maintenance, operations, and production teams in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures.
- Repair and replace components including motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, valves, shafts, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Install, dismantle, relocate, align, and commission machinery and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and specifications.
- Perform precision alignment and installation of machinery using appropriate measuring and rigging equipment.
- Complete equipment adjustments, modifications, and fabrication as required.
- Perform welding and basic fabrication work as needed.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend improvements to increase reliability and production efficiency.
- Work closely with production and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, shutdowns, installations, and special maintenance projects.
- Support and mentor apprentices when required.
- Complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, maintenance standards, and operating practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
Qualifications
- 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence or recognized Journeyperson Millwright certification strongly preferred.
- Candidates completing their apprenticeship or possessing strong directly related industrial millwright experience may also be considered.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial or manufacturing equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with bearings, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and other mechanical power transmission equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Welding and fabrication experience considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing, processing, heavy industrial, or production environment preferred.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work effectively within a maintenance team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work an afternoon shift or rotating shift schedule.
Working Conditions
This is an industrial maintenance environment and requires regular physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and working around operating equipment.
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Working with hand and power tools.
- Working at heights or in confined areas when required.
- Working in varying temperatures and industrial conditions.
- Safely lifting and handling tools, components, and equipment.
- Working overtime when operationally required.
