The CBE understands the future of work is flexible. In this role, you are eligible to participate in a flexible work program that allows you to work remotely for up to three days a week. A minimum of two days must be in the office. At certain times, you maybe be required to work in the office more then 2 days per week based on operational requirements.
Purpose:
As a member of a highly integrated, collaborative team, the purpose of this position is to perform information analysis and forecasts related to the students’ enrolment and accommodation planning for the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) while working with a significant degree of autonomy.
Accountability:
This position is accountable for:
- Ensuring accurate and effective data research, interpretation and analysis,
- Supporting Planning department and system stakeholders in data compilation and analysis for reports, briefings and key metrics monitoring for accommodation planning.
- Maintaining confidentiality surrounding all planning and student demographic data.
Responsibilities:
- Gathers, compiles, and analyses schools’ student enrolment projections, statistics, demographic studies and new subdivision analysis in support of forecasts of accommodation needs on an annual basis.
- Performs both overall and detailed demographic analysis, enrolment reporting, and forecast services for schools.
- Supports team in acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting data concerning pre-school population, general population trends, migration, etc. for the City by community, age groups, grade levels, and programs.
- Assists in conducting field investigations, special studies, research and surveys in connection with housing developments, school accommodation needs, population mobility, and density of school population for assigned schools. Interprets finds, builds scenarios and reports impacts in support of decisions for new schools, programs, bus receivers, etc. for assigned schools.
- Assists with the annual review of school boundaries.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in support of student accommodation planning
- Performs other related responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose of accountabilities of the role.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree with a focus on statistical demographic or business analysis, geography or planning or an equivalent discipline.
- Three to five years of related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel pivot tables, chart preparation, formulas and linkages
- Expertise in planning, measurement concepts, and data gathering and analysis methodologies
- Ability to develop data specifications and to program and document necessary statistical analysis
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively with a wide cross-section of people both internal and external to the organization
