Position Summary
Do you enjoy coordinating complex operations, building strong vendor relationships, and creating exceptional customer experiences? As a Commissary & Catering Coordinator, you'll play a key role in shaping the onboard experience for Canadian North passengers across our network.
From menu planning and catering logistics to charter operations and inventory management, you'll help ensure our aircraft are equipped with the products and services needed to deliver a safe, reliable, and memorable passenger experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine operational coordination, customer experience, and supplier management within a fast-paced aviation environment.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will support the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of Canadian North's onboard products and catering programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate catering, commissary, and inflight product programs across the airline network
- Support menu planning and development, onboard product enhancements, service standards, cost management initiatives, and customer experience improvements
- Coordinate loading logistics and distribution of onboard products, galley equipment, catering supplies, passenger amenities, and commissary items
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, caterers, and third-party vendors by communicating service requirements, providing forecasts, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and company standards
- Coordinate charter catering operations, monitor charter requirements, and serve as the primary contact for charter-related onboard services
- Investigate service irregularities, respond to inflight reports, and support corrective action planning and implementation
- Maintain documentation, including galley specifications, onboard product records, and operational procedures
- Promote a culture of safety by supporting hazard reporting, risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Remain informed of scheduled flight operations and provide operational support as required
What You'll Need to Succeed
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in aviation, catering, logistics, inventory management, hospitality, or a related operational environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with inventory distribution and control
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform physical duties, including frequent bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting of catering equipment and commissary products
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, as required
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
Bonus Qualifications
- Previous airline experience (e.g., passenger services, ramp operations, catering, charter operations, flight attendant experience)
- Knowledge of cargo load control, aircraft limitations, and ground handling services
- Bilingualism (English/French)
- National Food Safety Training Program (NFSTP) certification, or ability to obtain certification
- Ability to communicate in Inuktut
