We are seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Administration Team. This position reports to the Controller.
This is an ideal position for an individual looking to pursue a CPA designation. The role is mainly responsible for processing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory and support for month end processing. Great potential for career development.
Duties and Responsibilities include, without limitation, the following:
Accounts receivable
- Member payment processing (cheques, internet payments, preauthorized payment runs).
- Member account inquiries.
- Month end billing and statement processing.
- Overdue account management.
Accounts payable
- Preparing credit applications. Creating and maintaining vendor files and managing vendor queries.
- Ensuring proper invoice coding and approval. Entering invoice data.
- Preparing GST and PST remittances and other recurring payments (Trust Income Tax, WCB, Pension Contributions).
- Processing periodic payment runs (payment deadlines and discounts)
General accounting
- Coordinating and managing month-end inventory counts with the different departments.
- Inventory receipt and adjustments processing.
- Bank and credit card transaction reconciliations.
- Balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Recurring journal entry processing.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - confident speaking with members, guests and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain Club and member information privileged and confidential.
- Detail oriented and able to manage time and job requirements efficiently.
- Good problem-solving skills - ability to understand and resolve issues.
- Good bookkeeping knowledge.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to take direction and work unsupervised.
- Service orientation, dedication to enhance member experience.
- Prior accounting experience and being on the path of pursuit for an accounting designation is preferred. The Club is willing to invest in the education and professional development of the ideal candidate.
Transportation to our location is difficult. Employees need ample time if relying on public transit or their own vehicles.
