CertainTeed Architectural is seeking a strategic leader in the role of
Sr. Manager, Project Design & Project Management. Responsible for driving the successful execution, optimization, and continuous evolution of all Project Design and Project Management activities across Decoustics and Strongsville. Through strong architectural expertise, deep knowledge of CertainTeed Architectural products - including the full Decoustics custom ceiling and wall portfolio and the Strongsville and Rexwood wood product lines.
Reporting to the General Manager, Decoustics, Wood, this role serves as a key integrator across Project Management, Operations, Estimating, and Product Development, ensuring client commitments are met while advancing broader commercial and operational priorities.
Accountable for the overall Project Design and Project Management functions, including strategic direction, organizational capability, performance, and achievement of business objectives related to project execution, customer satisfaction, schedule performance, and profitability.
What You’ll Do
- Drive project profitability through effective staffing, workload balancing, change management, and productivity initiatives.
- Accountable for engineering and project management resource cost performance.
- Serve as a member of the site leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, organizational development, and business growth initiatives.
- Develop long-term project delivery strategies that support growth, scalability, customer experience, and operational excellence.
- Maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, architects, consultants, and strategic partners.
- Support business development activities and major project pursuits by providing leadership in project delivery strategy and technical solutions.
- Establish policies, processes, governance standards, and performance metrics across Project Management and Design functions.
The Manager of Project Design and Project Management operates within a highly technical, fast‑paced, and cross‑functional environment, balancing leadership, strategic planning, and deep design and project expertise. The role requires simultaneously managing multiple teams across divisions, coordinating both internal and external resources, and resolving complex architectural, manufacturing, and production challenges.
Success in this position demands advanced knowledge of architectural systems, custom ceiling and wall solutions, and CAD‑based design tools, paired with the ability to guide technical decision‑making and ensure design integrity across diverse project types are achieved along with critical management of project needs to keep projects in line with client delivery expectations.
In addition to technical leadership, the role oversees performance development, capability building, and cross‑functional collaboration, ensuring teams are aligned with organizational standards and evolving business needs.
The position requires strategic judgment, prioritization, and process optimization to support efficient project execution, operational excellence, and long‑term business growth - including the development of a high‑performing, cross‑functional design organization capable of scaling with demand.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in architectural design/engineering (required).
- 15+ years’ industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.
- 15+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional design teams.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD knowledge of SolidWorks; ERP systems knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of custom ceiling design (fiberglass, metal, wood) is a strong asset
- Proven ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates, the base pay range for this position is
$150,000 to
$180,000 per year. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 17% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
