CertainTeed Canada is seeking a Mine Environmental Technologist to support the development, construction, and operation of the Antrim Gypsum Project, a new gypsum mine in Nova Scotia.
This is a unique opportunity to join a major mining project during its early stages and play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability, and operational excellence throughout the mine's lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental monitoring activities, including water, air, rock, and sediment sampling.
- Perform site inspections and ensure compliance with permits, regulations, and environmental management plans.
- Collect and maintain environmental data, monitoring records, and database information.
- Support permitting requirements, regulatory reporting, and long-term monitoring programs.
- Assist with waste management, reclamation, water management, erosion control, and vegetation management initiatives.
- Develop and maintain environmental procedures and field protocols.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, regulators, and project stakeholders.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Technology, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental compliance, mining, quarrying, or natural resource industries.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting, regulations, and monitoring programs.
- Experience with environmental sampling techniques and data management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS software (ArcGIS preferred).
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work safely in field environments.
Preferred
- Previous mining, quarry, or mineral extraction experience.
- Experience working with environmental management systems and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
