About the Role:
The Community, Recreation and Culture Services Department is a leader in the provision and facilitation of recreation, culture and parks services and opportunities. Through responsible resource management, excellence in programming and community partnerships, the Department will strive to enrich the quality of life for all residents by promoting healthy lifestyle choices, showcasing the City’s rich cultural heritage, and offering a variety of high quality recreation and arts experience.
What You'll be Doing:
- Responsible for all customer related interactions in the facility, for example:
- Answering the phone and greeting visitors upon arrival,
- Answering questions and providing program information.
- Providing assistance to program instructors, associations and volunteers, for example:
- Processing memberships and collecting fees,
- Taking attendance and entering data,
- Preparing and ensuring the completion of forms,
- Organizing and taking an inventory of program equipment.
- Responsible for monitoring facility safety and cleanliness, for example:
- Assisting with kitchen and room setup and take down
- Cleaning the facility to ensure it is tidy and that adequate supplies are available to guests
- Reporting problems and unusual occurrences to supervisors
- Responsible for the daily administration of the front office.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What's Required:
- Grade 12 Diploma.
- A demonstrated ability to handle cash, balance deposits, etc.
- Demonstrated experience working in a similar/related environment.
- Well developed customer service and communication skills.
- The ability to work in a team environment, liaison with key internal and external stakeholders and to function effectively with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs with the ability to adapt quickly to applicable software.
- Experience with ActiveNet would be considered an asset.
- Availability to work flexible hours (ie. Working shifts for a 7 day operation, overtime etc.).
- Able to work at various locations across the city.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
- Ability to lift up to thirty (30) lbs.
- Current First Aid and CPR, level C with defibrillation certificates.
- A clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
