Position Summary- SAP SIT/UAT / Functional Defect Manager is responsible for governing System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and end-to-end functional defect management across the SAP S/4HANA transformation program, ensuring business processes are thoroughly validated, defects are effectively prioritized and resolved, testing objectives are achieved, and business readiness is established for successful go-live. A central point of coordination between business users, functional teams, system integrators, and quality engineering teams, this role drives quality outcomes through structured governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Roles & Responsibilities-
SIT & UAT Planning and Governance
- Define SIT and UAT strategy, scope, timelines, and governance framework.
- Develop SIT/UAT plans, schedules, entry and exit criteria, and test execution approach.
- Ensure end-to-end business process coverage across all SAP value streams. Drive SIT and UAT readiness reviews and sign-off processes.
- Monitor testing progress, quality metrics, and milestone adherence.
Functional Defect Management
- Establish and govern the defect management lifecycle and processes.
- Lead defect triage meetings and prioritization workshops.
- Track defect resolution, retesting, and closure activities. Ensure timely resolution of critical and high-priority business defects.
- Analyze defect trends and recommend corrective actions.
Business Process Validation
- Coordinate execution of end-to-end business scenarios during SIT and UAT.
- Ensure functional requirements and business processes are fully validated.
- Manage business user participation and testing activities.
- Validate cross-functional process integration and user acceptance.
- Support business sign-off and acceptance readiness activities.
Risk, Dependency & Escalation Management
- Identify and manage testing risks, dependencies, and critical issues.
- Escalate unresolved defects impacting business readiness and go-live milestones.
- Coordinate mitigation plans with functional and technical teams.
- Monitor defect aging, testing bottlenecks, and execution risks.
- Provide recommendations for quality and readiness decisions.
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Functional Leads, Business Process Owners, PMO, and System Integrators.
- Facilitate daily defect review and status meetings.
- Manage communication between business users and delivery teams.
- Ensure transparency of testing progress, risks, and quality status.
- Support governance forums, readiness reviews, and executive reporting.
Go-Live Readiness
- Assess SIT and UAT completion against exit criteria.
- Validate closure of critical business defects before go-live.
- Provide quality recommendations for production deployment.
Key Deliverables
- SIT Strategy & Execution Plan – Define the approach, timelines, scope, resources, and governance for SIT execution.
- UAT Strategy & Business Validation Plan – Establish the framework for business-led validation and user acceptance activities.
- Business Process Test Coverage Matrix – Ensure complete traceability between requirements, business processes, and test scenarios.
- SIT/UAT Readiness Assessment – Evaluate environment, resource, test data, and process readiness prior to test execution.
- Defect Management Framework – Define defect lifecycle, severity classification, governance, escalation, and reporting processes.
- Defect & Risk Register – Track functional defects, risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, and closure status.
- Defect Triage Reports – Provide prioritization decisions, ownership assignments, and resolution progress.
- Daily/Weekly Test Status Reports – Report execution progress, defect trends, risks, and milestone achievements.
- Business Sign-Off Readiness Report – Assess process validation, defect closure, and business acceptance readiness.
- Go-Live Readiness Assessment – Provide final recommendation on SIT/UAT completion and production deployment readiness.
