Senior Architectural Technologist / Intermediate Architectural Designer
Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA) – Hybrid (3 days in-office / balance remote)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist or Intern Architect with dedicated commercial, light industrial, or institutional experience to join our production team. In this role, you will lead the development of detailed construction documentation sets, manage complex drawing packages, and collaborate closely with project managers, consultants, and municipal authorities.
This is a permanent, high-impact role suited for a technical professional who brings deep knowledge of commercial building systems, exceptional REVIT efficiency, and a proven track record of executing error-free working drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Documentation: Lead and execute comprehensive architectural drawing packages (SD through CD) for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects for municipal approvals and construction issuance.
- BIM & CAD Management: Produce, maintain, and coordinate complex REVIT models and AutoCAD drawing sets in accordance with firm standards.
- Code Compliance: Apply Part 3 of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), local zoning by-laws, and municipal submission standards across all project phases.
- Consultant & Team Coordination: Coordinate structural, MEP, and civil engineering drawings into the primary architectural model to resolve clash detection and spatial conflicts early.
- Technical Detail Development: Draft clear, constructible, and code-compliant architectural assemblies, steel/concrete interfaces, building envelope details, and interior layouts.
- Permit & Construction Administration Support: Assist with SPA/building permit submissions, response to municipal comments, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews during CA phases.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Project Experience: Minimum 8+ years of direct experience preparing architectural working drawings for commercial, light industrial, and/or institutional projects within an architectural firm. (Note: Candidates with strictly residential experience will not be considered).
- Software Proficiency: Advanced, hands-on mastery of both Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD is required. You must be fluent in REVIT family creation, view templates, phasing, and worksharing workflows.
- Building Code Knowledge: Strong, demonstrated working knowledge of Part 3 (Commercial / Institutional / Industrial) of the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
- Education: Diploma in Architectural Technology (OAAAS eligible or member) or a Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (registered Intern Architect with the OAA).
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial building envelopes, structural steel/concrete interfaces, fire-rated assemblies, and Canadian construction detailing.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams, consultants, and site contractors.

- Hybrid Model: Hybrid arrangement with a balance of working from our GTA studio and working remotely.
