About the Role:
As a key member of Corus Entertainment’s Legal, Regulatory and Governance department, you will lead the resolution of complex and confidential respect, safety and violence in the workplace complaints in a manner that is compliant with the Canada Labour Code and applicable workplace policies. You will be responsible for conducting timely, unbiased and fair investigations or engaging in other forms of resolution, including conciliation. You will also lead complaint intake, case documentation and management, and provide regular status reporting, including annual reporting under the Canada Labour Code. You will join a talented and collegial team that works closely with business partners and will report directly to the Director, Legal Counsel, Employment and Investigations.
You’ll contribute by:
- Conducting timely and confidential workplace investigations in areas including discrimination, workplace harassment, including sexual harassment, and violence.
- Conducting interviews, gathering and analyzing evidence, assessing credibility, and writing formal investigative reports with findings.
- Providing recommendations in accordance with established legal practices, policies and any applicable collective agreement.
- Acting as a conciliator to facilitate the process for parties that elect this resolution.
- Supporting the development and interpretation of policies and delivering training.
- Conducting the intake of investigation files, case management and post-investigative reporting and tasks.
- Conducting regular reporting on workplace complaints, investigations and other resolution avenues.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience managing and resolving workplace complaints and conducting complex workplace investigations, including experience in facilitating alternative dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating the management and resolution of workplace complaints in a manner that is compliant with the Canada Labour Code and applicable workplace policies.
- Experience documenting investigative findings and writing reports that are clear, concise, complete, and provides analysis of the evidence considered in reaching conclusions.
- Demonstrated awareness, understanding and experience identifying and addressing discrimination and harassment, including racism and systemic and intersectional forms of discrimination.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple investigations, identify risks, react to changing situations and manage multiple priorities in a timely and judicious manner.
- You are an innovator, always looking to develop and improve your approach and that of the team, in line with legislative changes and industry best practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment yet independently on assigned files.
- Excellent writing and analysis skills.
- Able to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner.
- Strong ability to multi-task and respond effectively to changing priorities and demands.
- Develop trust and rapport and influence partners and business leaders.
