Maintenance Manager
Location: Peterborough, Ontario
Salary: $140,000 – $150,000 base + bonus

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance and reliability function at a large, established CPG manufacturing facility in Peterborough, Ontario.
This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for the reliability, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement of a large-scale manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will lead a unionized skilled trades team, oversee maintenance projects and capital initiatives, manage the maintenance budget, and drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs across the facility.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience from a large CPG, food, packaging, consumer products, or high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the site's maintenance and reliability organization, including unionized skilled trades.
- Provide leadership to Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, and technical teams.
- Develop and execute comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for production and packaging equipment.
- Manage major maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, plant improvements, and capital projects.
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Production leadership.
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance operating budget and capital expenditures.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs including downtime, PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR, equipment reliability, and maintenance costs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health & safety, environmental, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, reliability, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Manage contractors, vendors, service providers, and external maintenance partners.
- Support shutdown planning, equipment installations, commissioning, and plant expansion projects.
- Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and best practices across the facility.
- Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance leadership and skilled trades employees.
- Work effectively within a unionized environment, including collaboration with union representatives and adherence to the collective agreement.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or diploma from a recognized university or college; Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline preferred.
- Strong maintenance leadership experience within a large-scale manufacturing environment.
- Experience in CPG, food manufacturing, packaging, consumer products, or similarly high-volume production environments strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading unionized skilled trades teams.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Experience managing significant maintenance budgets and capital projects.
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment, automation, electrical/mechanical systems, and packaging machinery.
- Demonstrated experience with reliability improvement, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of industrial health and safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
