Position Overview
The Senior Staff Accountant is a hands-on accounting role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and providing reliable financial and cost information to the business. The role has a strong focus on cost accounting, AP, AR, reconciliations, inventory, and financial reporting.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with Operations and Supply Chain. This position also provides an opportunity to take on greater responsibility, support process improvements, and contribute to the development of the Finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and other month-end adjustments.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Assist with preparation of financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate significant differences between actual results and expectations.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
- Support day-to-day AP and AR activities, including invoice processing, customer receipts, payments, and account reconciliations.
- Review transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
- Support the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with hands-on experience in cost accounting, AP, and AR.
- Manufacturing or food production experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Premier Accounting Software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team.
