Dasro is looking for a Climate & Sustainability Analyst for one of its clients in Calgary, AB.
Term: Start date: 11/24/2026. End date: 11/23/2027 (Possibility of extension)
Working Hours: 8 Hours per day. 40 Hours per week
Location: Calgary, AB, Canada
Job industry: Utilities and Energy
Summary:
This role sits inside the client’s Strategy & Disclosure function, supporting the corporate methane intensity reduction target and the company's broader climate performance disclosure. The work splits into two distinct areas:
- Scenario Modeling & Dashboards: Modeling emissions reduction projects against business unit data, costing candidate projects, building trajectory impact scenarios into Power BI dashboards, and packaging the output into slide decks for internal presentation.
- Disclosure Validation: Reviewing third-party climate performance assessment data, validating Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions line items against the client’s own disclosed figures, and confirming external characterizations match what has been stated.
The top priority is hands-on Power BI dashboard authorship paired with real Scope 1, Scope 2, or Scope 3 emissions analysis experience - candidates who have built and maintained a dashboard themselves, not simply pulled numbers from one someone else built. Equally important is the ability to turn that analysis into a slide deck or presentation a non-technical audience can follow. A candidate strong on the data side who cannot describe how they have communicated findings to stakeholders will not clear this screen; that exact combination has specifically caused prior placements in this function to fail.
Three backgrounds are genuinely being considered: dedicated sustainability or ESG experience, finance or accounting experience layered with sustainability work, and engineering experience layered with sustainability work. Candidates from a Big Four advisory background (KPMG, EY, Deloitte, or similar) with sustainability or ESG client work are a strong fit given recent contraction on those teams - do not screen them out for lacking in-house energy sector experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Model emissions reduction projects against business unit data (including cost and commercial trade-offs), and build that modeling into trajectory scenarios against the corporate methane intensity target.
- Build and maintain the Power BI dashboard tracking performance against the target, including sensitivity analysis.
- Develop analytical materials and slide decks for internal working groups and steering committees, and support development of materials that reach executive leadership, the Board, and investors (presenting internally at a working level only).
- Review third-party climate performance assessment data, validate Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions line items, and confirm alignment with the client’s disclosed decarbonization plan.
- Research and maintain peer datasets covering methane intensity, GHG intensity, climate targets, and disclosure practices across comparable companies.
- Track regulatory and disclosure framework developments relevant to the client’s target trajectory.
- Collaborate daily with the Data Governance team on emissions forecasting methodology.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 4+ years of data analysis and visualization experience applied to sustainability or climate datasets, specifically Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions reporting (demonstrated job history outranks formal education for this role).
- Direct, hands-on experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards (authorship, not report viewing only).
- Advanced Excel skills for backend scenario modeling and data characterization.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data analysis into clear, decision-ready slide deck materials for non-technical internal stakeholders.
- Eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience at a Big Four advisory firm (KPMG, EY, Deloitte, or similar) in a sustainability or ESG advisory capacity.
- Familiarity with marginal abatement cost curves (MACC).
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as ISSB.
- A background in finance, accounting, or engineering layered with sustainability or climate work is equally considered alongside a dedicated sustainability background.
