Dasro is looking for a Senior Network Engineer for one of its clients in Saskatoon, SK.

Travel: Some travel to a remote project site as required
This is an end-to-end, hands-on role responsible for designing, building, configuring, commissioning, and handing over resilient and secure network infrastructure in a remote, greenfield environment.
The Senior Network Engineer will work closely with site engineering and EPCM teams to ensure network and connectivity requirements are integrated into the broader construction and operational plan. The successful candidate will take a proactive, security-first approach and be comfortable working independently while collaborating with internal stakeholders, construction teams, and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the enterprise connectivity upgrade, including load balancing, failover, and resilient connectivity.
- Design the OT/IT network architecture for permanent infrastructure, with scalability from construction through production operations.
- Build and deploy the on-site OT and IT network ahead of fibre delivery, including network segmentation, switching, and cabling.
- Implement, configure, test, and commission network infrastructure, taking ownership from design through operational handover.
- Specify, source, and oversee the installation and commissioning of network and connectivity hardware at the site.
- Coordinate network implementation activities with construction, engineering, and site-readiness schedules.
- Work with site engineering teams to translate operational requirements into network and connectivity requirements.
- Implement network security controls, including network segmentation and access controls, in alignment with the broader infrastructure and cloud security framework.
- Coordinate with external network and connectivity providers while progressively transitioning network operations and capabilities in-house.
- Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues and provide timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, procedures, standards, and operational documentation.
- Support the transition of the completed network infrastructure into ongoing operations.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering, or equivalent hands-on expertise.
- Experience designing, building, configuring, commissioning, and operating enterprise networks.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
- Fortinet and/or Cisco Meraki environments preferred.
- VLANs, routing, network segmentation, load balancing, and failover.
- OT networks and integration of OT environments with enterprise IT networks.
- Demonstrated ability to personally implement and configure network solutions rather than solely designing or specifying them for others.
- Strong understanding of fibre networks, including fibre design, integration, deployment, and delivery to remote sites.
- Experience specifying, sourcing, installing, and commissioning enterprise network hardware in physical/site environments.
- Experience delivering network infrastructure in remote, greenfield, industrial, mining, energy, or similarly demanding environments.
- Experience working directly with construction, engineering, EPCM, or site teams.
- Working knowledge of network security controls and access management within regulated or operational environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
- Relevant post-secondary education in IT, networking, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in mining, energy, industrial, or other remote-site environments.
- Fortinet certifications, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Cisco Meraki certifications, or other relevant network certifications.
- Experience transitioning network services from external providers to internal teams.
- Experience working with OT/IT convergence and industrial network environments.
