Interim Vice President of Finance
We are seeking an experienced Interim Vice President of Finance to report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and provide leadership across the organization’s finance function. This role will oversee financial reporting, planning, controls, audit, treasury, and broader finance operations while supporting key business priorities.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, bringing strong financial leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
This is a three-month contract with a hybrid work model, requiring three days onsite per week in the Toronto Downtown/Yorkville area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the finance function across financial reporting, planning, controls, and audit activities.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, forecasting cycles, and broader financial planning activities.
- Maintain a strong financial control environment and support effective governance and compliance practices.
- Lead year-end financial statement preparation and coordinate activities with external auditors.
- Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, treasury activities, and overall cash position.
- Provide oversight of tax filings and related regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Review contracts and provide financial oversight related to vendors, procurement, and commercial commitments.
- Provide financial guidance and insights to support business decisions and organizational priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
- Support organizational change initiatives and ensure timely execution of finance-related priorities.
- Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams on financial and operational matters.
Requirements
- CPA designation required.
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- Progressive senior-level finance leadership experience within complex, fast-paced organizations.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, controllership, financial planning and analysis, audit, cash management, and operational finance.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams.
- Demonstrated ability to establish structure, ownership, accountability, and effective processes.
- Experience managing change, competing priorities, and time-sensitive initiatives in evolving environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness.
- Experience working within a larger or complex corporate environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and operational involvement.
