Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at Earls Kitchen + Bar in Vaughan, ON. In this role, the Line Cook prepares and cooks menu items to established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and speed of service. Daily responsibilities include setting up and stocking stations, executing dishes during service, following food safety and sanitation guidelines, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. The Line Cook collaborates closely with other kitchen team members and leadership to manage ticket times, support smooth service, and respond to guest volume. This role also participates in prep work, portioning, and rotating inventory, while learning new menu items and techniques as Earls continues to innovate.
Qualifications
- Foundational culinary skills, including basic knife skills, cooking methods (grilling, sautéing, frying, roasting), and the ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Strong food safety and sanitation practices, with knowledge of proper storage, handling, and cleaning procedures in a commercial kitchen.
- Experience working on a busy line or in a high-volume restaurant environment, with the ability to maintain speed, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Team-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with chefs, line cooks, and service staff.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous kitchen or line cook experience in a restaurant setting is preferred; culinary training or certification is an asset but not required.
- Commitment to guest satisfaction, openness to feedback, and willingness to learn Earls’ standards, systems, and new menu items.
