Our client is an established manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team near Guelph, ON. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the accounting function and leading a team of four accounting professionals. They are part of a global organization and offer a stable, established environment with strong leadership.
The Opportunity
The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting function while providing leadership and direction to a team of four. This is a hands-on management role with regular interaction with senior leadership.
The successful candidate will be responsible for areas including financial reporting, general accounting, AP/AR, costing, internal controls, budgeting, audits, and accounting systems and processes.
This opportunity would suit either an experienced Accounting Manager looking for a long-term role or a strong Senior Accountant ready to take the next step into people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of four accounting professionals
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other financial reporting
- Manage general accounting activities, including AP, AR, general ledger, costing, and operating expenses
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of costs and revenues
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements
- Oversee accounting systems and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
- Work closely with senior leadership on financial results and reporting
- Support payroll, inventory, and other accounting-related functions as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA, CGA is preferred
- Progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
- Previous manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
- Public accounting experience with manufacturing clients will also be considered
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Japanese/English bilingualism is considered a strong asset
