Role Summary
The District Sales Manager (DSM) is charged with leading our team of Business Development professionals in the field, and with growing sales within the Maritimes market. This role is accountable for market share expansion, revenue growth, and the development of a high-performing Business Development team.
They will be a strategic leader who can build talent, establish disciplined sales execution, and position Flanagan Foodservice as a trusted, value-driven partner to independent and multi-unit foodservice operators.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Growth & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute a regional business development strategy to grow market share, penetration, and profitability across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including independent operators, regional chains, and emerging concepts.
- Strengthen Flanagan Foodservice’s brand presence and competitive position within the Atlantic foodservice market.
- Monitor regional performance against targets and adjust strategy based on market conditions and competitive activity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of highly skilled and motivated Business Development Managers (BDMs).
- Recruit top talent and create a performance-driven, accountable sales culture.
- Coach BDMs to move beyond transactional selling to solution-based, value-added business development.
- Establish clear expectations, KPIs, and development plans to drive continuous improvement and career progression.
- Conduct regular field coaching, pipeline reviews, and performance evaluations.
Sales Execution & Performance Management
- Own regional sales targets, forecasts, and growth initiatives.
- Drive disciplined sales execution, including prospecting, pipeline management, and closing strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Category Management, Marketing teams to deliver exceptional customer solutions.
- Ensure consistent use of reporting tools to track activity, opportunities, and results.
Customer & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Support complex or high-value negotiations and contract discussions.
- Ensure customer retention through proactive engagement, service excellence, and value delivery.
- Act as a market ambassador for Flanagan Foodservice, representing the company at industry events and customer functions
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in foodservice distribution, business development, or B2B sales.
- Proven experience leading and developing sales or business development teams.
- Strong understanding of the Atlantic Canada foodservice market (independents, chains, and regional dynamics preferred).
- Demonstrated success growing market share and building profitable, long-term customer relationships.
- Experience driving a consultative, value-based selling model.
- Strong financial acumen, including margin management and sales forecasting.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively within New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
