Focus Systems is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst to support our client's Data Strategy & Various Data Projects initiatives.

Key Details
• Location: Primarily remote within Canada, with the possibility of up to 15% onsite meetings
• Work Location Requirement: All work must be performed from within Canada due to network and data security requirements
• Hours: 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday - Friday
• Contract: Oct 2026 - Apr 2027 (7 months)
Role Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst will support the design and development of analytical data products and services that enable better use of data assets and support broader data strategy initiatives.
Working within a team, the successful candidate will contribute to high-quality data analysis, data modelling, data visualization, and evidence development for use across various stakeholder groups. The role may involve data analysis, data modelling, statistical analysis, data governance, data science, data quality, advising, business analysis, and data product design and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external client needs
- Develop data products using various data sets
- Analyze data and prepare results
- Gather and document client requirements
- Design and develop data products
- Capture business and technical metadata for data products
- Perform data analysis, data quality audits/reviews, statistical analysis, and data mining
- Develop and share data models and products
- Develop baseline and ongoing outcomes, key results, metrics, and other indicators
- Provide insights to support decision-making and strategic business planning
- Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to create business insights
- Design and create dashboards and custom reporting using various data sources and inputs
- Escalate issues and risks as appropriate
- Work effectively within a multi-vendor/staff environment
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates should demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of working experience relevant to the following areas:
- Business intelligence and development of analytical data products
- Data analysis and preparation of analytical results
- Data visualization, dashboards, and custom reporting
- Data quality audits and reviews
- Statistical analysis and data mining
- Gathering and documenting client requirements
- Capturing business and technical metadata
- Developing outcomes, key results, metrics, and other indicators
- Integrating quantitative and qualitative data to generate business insights
- Supporting evidence-based decision-making and strategic business planning
- Working collaboratively within team and multi-vendor/staff environments
Preferred Experience & Assets
Experience across multiple areas of the following would be considered valuable:
- Data product design and delivery
- Advising clients and stakeholders on data-related initiatives
