We are conducting a confidential search for a Managing Director, Facilities Management to lead and grow a significant facilities management business in Canada. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced facilities management professional who combines commercial leadership, operational delivery and client management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record leading large, complex facilities operations, managing senior teams and developing strategic client relationships.
The role will have significant responsibility for the overall performance and growth of the business, including P&L ownership, client strategy, operational excellence, people leadership and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the facilities management business
- Own the financial performance of the business, including P&L, revenue, profitability, forecasting and budgeting
- Develop and execute growth strategies across existing and new client accounts
- Build and maintain relationships with senior executives and key decision makers
- Lead major client accounts and ensure consistently high levels of service delivery
- Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and develop new business
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of senior facilities management, operations and account leaders
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs, financial targets and service delivery standards
- Ensure facilities operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements
- Oversee large and complex portfolios spanning corporate real estate, facilities management, building operations and related services
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, HR, sales and project delivery
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract renewals and major client engagements
- Identify operational and commercial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Represent the organization with major clients, industry partners and external stakeholders
What We're Looking For:
- 15+ years of progressive experience within facilities management, integrated facilities management, property management, corporate real estate or a related environment
- Proven experience operating at a senior executive or business unit leadership level
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and strong commercial acumen
- Experience leading large, complex facilities management portfolios and multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong track record in business development, client retention and account growth
- Experience managing relationships with C-suite and senior client stakeholders
- Strong understanding of facilities operations, building management, maintenance and service delivery
- Experience managing large teams and developing senior leaders
- Strong financial, contractual and commercial management capabilities
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with a hands on approach to major client and operational issues
- Post secondary education in Business, Facilities Management, Engineering, Real Estate or a related discipline is preferred
- Professional designations such as P.Eng., CFM, FMP, PMP, RPA or similar are considered an asset
