Frankel & Company is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join our growing team. You'll own the accounting for a portfolio of venture-backed technology companies and work closely with our CFOs on financings, M&A transactions, and board reporting.
About the Role
You'll be the main accounting lead on several client engagements. You'll run the month-end close from start to finish, produce reporting that founders, boards and investors rely on, and help get companies ready for diligence, audits and transactions. This role suits someone who wants more than a close checklist. You'll see how finance drives decisions at high-growth companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full month-end close for multiple clients, including reconciliations, accruals, deferred revenue, and journal entries
- Prepare monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual analysis, and management and board reporting packages
- Review work prepared by junior team members and help build consistent close processes across our client base
- Support capital raises and M&A engagements with financial data rooms, diligence requests, quality-of-earnings support, and transaction closing
- Coordinate year-end audits and reviews, and work with external tax advisors on corporate filings, SR&ED claims, and sales tax
- Put in place and improve internal controls, systems, and processes as clients scale
- Use Claude and other AI tools to automate recurring accounting tasks and help build AI-enabled workflows across our client base
- Manage payroll, AP/AR, and multi-currency (CAD/USD) transactions, and handle day-to-day communication with client founders, teams, and vendors
- Take on special projects, including cash flow forecasting, revenue recognition analysis, and system implementations
Qualifications
- 6 to 10 years of accounting experience, ideally including public practice, outsourced accounting, or a tech company
- CPA designation preferred
- Proven ownership of the month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Experience with audits, financings, or M&A diligence is a strong asset
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or NetSuite and Excel; comfortable picking up new tools quickly
- Hands-on proficiency with Claude and other AI tools, and a track record of using them to automate workflows, speed up analysis, and improve accuracy
- Able to manage several clients at once with little supervision
- Clear, confident communicator who can talk through the numbers with founders and investors
