Job description:
GenMec ACL Inc. is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our team in Cold Lake, Alberta. The Skilled Labourer is an intermediate-level construction worker who supports site operations with independence. This role requires solid knowledge of construction practices, the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Job Type: Contract, with opportunity to move to continued employment
Expected hours: 10 hrs / day
Project duration: 2-3 months long
Role Responsibilities
- Perform general labour duties with minimal supervision
- Assist skilled tradespeople and equipment operators with a higher level of competency
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment
- Assist with site preparation, grading, measuring, and basic layout tasks
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, barricades, and temporary structures
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times
- Follow and enforce company and site-specific safety procedures
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents promptly
- Support material staging and organization to improve workflow efficiency
- Assist in training and supporting Labourer I employees as required
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project success
Role Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in commercial or civil construction
- Drivers license
- Solid understanding of construction tools, materials, and methods
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ lbs
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices
