In this role, you will:
- Prepare welding specifications for each contract;
- Prepare and qualify contract-specific WPSs and PQRs;
- Prepare and monitor repair procedures in the factory and on-site (welding);
- Periodically check factory parameters in accordance with WPSs and monitor control points;
- Monitoring welders and spot welders and tracking their qualifications (Welder’s Monthly Log, CWB registry);
- Optimizing welding processes, particularly by reviewing DDPs when they are submitted for approval;
- Assisting the engineering department and serving as a resource person for welding matters;
- Support the engineering department in meeting contractual requirements related to metallurgy and welding;
- Maintain the ADF welding standard in compliance with applicable standards;
- Monitor subcontractors regarding welding;
- Understand and interpret AWS, CSA, ASME, and AISC standards;
- Assist the Montana plant with welding-related issues;
- Conduct welder qualification in accordance with contractual requirements;
- Conduct WPS/PQR qualification in accordance with contractual requirements;
- Ensure compliance with CWB and AISC requirements, as well as with standards and specifications applicable to projects of ADF and its subsidiaries;
- Perform all other related tasks.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in estimating in the steel/welding field (an asset)
- Completed university degree in engineering
- Knowledge of welding, reading drawings, and CSA and AWS carbon steel standards (an asset)
- Knowledge of SMAW, FCAW, SAW, and ASW-NG processes (an asset)
- Bilingual in spoken and written French and English
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Occasional travel to job sites in Canada and the United States.
