Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Azure Databricks Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable cloud-native data and integration solutions on the Azure platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure Databricks, ADLS, Java/Scala-based API development, and event-driven architectures. This role requires strong technical leadership, architecture governance, and the ability to guide teams through complex enterprise data transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead enterprise data architecture and cloud modernization strategies on Azure.
- Design and implement scalable data processing solutions using Azure Databricks.
- Architect and develop high-performance REST APIs using Java and Scala.
- Design event-driven and real-time data integration solutions leveraging Kafka and messaging platforms.
- Establish best practices for data engineering, application integration, security, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.
- Drive cloud adoption, platform optimization, and modernization initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to governance, compliance, and operational excellence standards.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
- Hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks and large-scale data processing.
- Proficiency in Java and Scala-based REST API development.
- Experience with Kafka, MQ, or similar messaging/event-streaming platforms.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data architecture, and cloud-native solutions.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale, high-availability applications and data platforms.
Preferred Skills
- Experience developing Python-based APIs.
- Strong Python scripting and automation capabilities.
- Experience leading and mentoring small to medium-sized technical teams.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Experience with microservices architecture and cloud security best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in solution architecture, data engineering, and cloud platform design.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive technical strategy and influence architectural decisions across teams.
