Microsoft Systems & Infrastructure Lead
Halifax (Hybrid-2 days in office)
Our client a dynamic Information Technology services company that partners with leading global organizations to deliver innovative, high-quality IT solutions is looking for a Microsoft Systems & Infrastructure Lead to join their growing team.
You will provide technical ownership and day-to-day leadership for their global Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Azure, and Microsoft VM infrastructure.
This role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with people leadership. You will lead and develop engineers while ensuring Microsoft infrastructure is secure, resilient, highly available, well monitored, and increasingly automated.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Microsoft Infrastructure engineering team.
- Provide day-to-day people leadership, including 1:1s, performance management, development planning, coaching, and career development.
- Act as the senior technical authority and escalation point for Microsoft infrastructure.
- Own the architecture, standards, lifecycle, security, and performance of: Windows Server, Active Directory / Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Azure / Azure VMs, Windows VMs and VDIs.
- Lead complex technical incidents, root-cause analysis, and Problem Management.
- Ensure effective patching, vulnerability remediation, hardening, and configuration compliance.
- Drive Microsoft infrastructure monitoring and observability.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for administration, provisioning, health checks, compliance, and remediation.
- Drive automation of VM/VDI provisioning, server configuration, patching, monitoring, and lifecycle activities.
- Support infrastructure projects, architecture reviews, changes, and service transitions.
- Maintain technical standards, documentation, runbooks, and technology roadmaps.
- Work closely with Platform Infrastructure, Network, Security, Solutions, Monitoring, and Service Management teams.
Qualifications
- Significant experience managing enterprise Microsoft infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure VMs.
- Experience managing Windows VMs and/or VDIs.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Experience with Windows vulnerability management, patching, and security hardening.
- Experience with Endpoint Central or a similar server management platform.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability.
- Experience with Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical engineers.
