Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area and Calgery Canada, for Fire Prevention Consultants, Technicians and Fitters. In this position, team members conduct inspections, testing, and verification of fire and life safety systems, including alarms, sprinklers, and integrated systems. The role includes preparing reports, documenting findings, and supporting compliance with relevant codes, standards, and CAN/ULC-S1001 Integrated Systems Testing requirements. Consultants and technicians assist with retrofit and design-build projects, support commissioning activities, and provide guidance to clients on fire prevention strategies and best practices. The position also involves collaborating with project managers and contractors, participating in client training sessions, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout each project.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, integrated systems, and life safety equipment, with the ability to perform inspections, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with fire and building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., CAN/ULC-S1001, local fire codes), and the ability to interpret and apply them in compliance assessments.
- Project coordination or project management skills, including planning work, managing timelines, and collaborating with building owners, property managers, engineers, and contractors.
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports, inspection records, and documentation, with solid written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions and training.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to verification processes, commissioning activities, and service work.
- Comfort working on-site in various building environments, including the ability to perform fieldwork that may involve ladders, equipment, and confined spaces, following safety protocols.
- Relevant education or certification in fire protection technology, engineering, building systems, or a related discipline; professional designations or technician licenses in fire safety are an asset.
- Previous experience in fire prevention consulting, fire safety services, building systems, or a closely related field within the Greater Toronto Area or similar jurisdiction is preferred.
