JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Lead, Marine / LNG to support the development of a major greenfield LNG-related project in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The project includes a floating LNG facility and associated marine operations, including vessel activity in and around the project area. As the project progresses through its next stages of development, the environmental team will be reviewing historical environmental work completed around 2017, assessing the existing baseline information, identifying gaps, and determining what additional environmental studies, testing and regulatory work will be required.
This individual will take senior ownership of the marine environmental workstream, helping develop the environmental strategy and work plan required to advance the project. They will review existing studies and baseline data, identify outstanding requirements, oversee work completed by environmental consultants and technical specialists, and ensure the project is positioned to meet applicable environmental and regulatory requirements.
This is not intended to be a purely hands-on technical study role. The successful candidate will bring the senior-level experience required to understand what work needs to be completed, why it is required, and whether the work being produced is sufficient to support the project.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of environmental experience supporting major capital, energy, marine, natural resources or infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience in marine environmental assessment, environmental planning and/or regulatory approvals.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing environmental baseline studies and identifying gaps in existing environmental data.
- Experience planning and scoping environmental work required to advance major projects.
- Experience overseeing environmental consultants and providing senior technical review or QA/QC of their work.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permitting and regulatory requirements relevant to major projects.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering, environmental and regulatory teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology or a related discipline.
- Ability to travel periodically to Prince Rupert.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- LNG project experience, particularly involving marine-based or floating LNG infrastructure.
- Experience with marine terminals, ports, shipping or vessel-related environmental considerations. • Experience supporting greenfield projects through early development or pre-FEED.
- British Columbia environmental assessment and permitting experience.
- Experience taking older environmental/baseline information and determining what must be updated to support a current project.
