Manager, Finance & Accounting | GTA | Hybrid
Insight Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, growing organization to recruit a Manager, Finance & Accounting for its Canadian operations. This is a great opportunity for a technically strong accounting and finance professional who is ready to step into a broader leadership role with exposure to financial reporting, month-end, working capital, budgeting and forecasting, systems/process improvement, and people leadership.
You do not necessarily need to already be at the Manager level. We are open to strong Senior Financial Analysts, Senior Accountants or Assistant Managers who have the technical foundation and leadership capability to take the next step in their career.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will play a key role within the Canadian finance organization and lead an established transactional accounting team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing oversight of month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accruals and related accounting activities
- Supporting accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS and internal control requirements
- Leading, coaching and developing an established Accounts Receivable team
- Supporting working capital management and resolving more complex customer/accounting issues
- Partnering with business leaders throughout the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
- Working cross-functionally with Finance and operational stakeholders
- Supporting external audit and internal control activities
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting
- Helping drive ongoing ERP and finance-process optimization initiatives
- Participating in change-management and continuous-improvement projects across Finance
What We’re Looking For
We would like to speak with candidates who bring:
- CPA designation or are in the very final stages of completion
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands-on understanding of month-end close
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls and audit
- Experience within CPG, manufacturing, consumer products or another complex environment is highly valued
- Strong ERP experience; SAP experience would be a significant asset
- Previous leadership, team-lead, mentoring or people-management experience
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- A curious, process-improvement mindset
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions
Experience within a public company is not required.
Who This Could Be Ideal For
This could be an excellent next step for:
- A Senior Financial Analyst or Senior Accountant ready for their first Manager opportunity
- An Assistant Finance/Accounting Manager looking for broader responsibility
- A first-time Finance Manager looking for increased exposure and leadership
- A CPA coming from public accounting with strong exposure to CPG/manufacturing clients who is ready to transition into industry
Why Consider It?
This is a broad role that offers considerably more than traditional accounting.
You’ll gain exposure across financial reporting, operational finance, planning, working capital, systems, process improvement and people leadership while working closely with senior Finance leadership.
There is also strong longer-term career development potential for someone who wants to broaden their Finance experience and ultimately progress into more senior leadership.
