About the Role
Invisible-Care+ is looking for compassionate, reliable, and motivated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our growing community care team.
This is a part-time, casual independent contractor opportunity providing one-on-one support to clients within their homes and communities. Our clients have varying physical, cognitive, and psycho-emotional needs and may require assistance to safely and independently manage their day-to-day activities.
Assignments are matched based on your location, availability, experience, and the needs of the client. Hours may vary from week to week, and there are no guaranteed minimum hours.
Responsibilities
Depending on the individual client's care plan, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, bathing, hygiene, and toileting where required
- Providing supervision and safety support within the home and community
- Providing cognitive cueing, prompting, reminders, and assistance with task initiation and completion
- Supporting clients with establishing and maintaining daily routines
- Meal planning, meal preparation, and feeding-related assistance
- Light housekeeping and laundry related to the client's care needs
- Medication reminders and cueing, where appropriate
- Accompanying and supporting clients with appointments, errands, grocery shopping, and community activities
- Supporting mobility and safe movement within the home and community
- Providing companionship and psycho-emotional support
- Encouraging client independence while providing assistance where needed
- Observing and reporting changes in the client's physical, cognitive, emotional, or functional presentation
- Completing clear and timely documentation following each shift
- Communicating relevant concerns or changes to the Care Coordinator
Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or relevant/related training and experience
- Previous experience providing in-home or community-based support is an asset
- Experience supporting individuals following motor vehicle accidents, acquired brain injury, concussion, chronic pain, cognitive impairment, or mental health challenges is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, professional, and able to maintain appropriate client boundaries and confidentiality
- Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's licence is a must for community-based assignments
