Design Specialist
Responsibilities
- Design and develop architectural facade, window, railing, and related building systems using AutoCAD and 3D design software.
- Create detailed shop, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Support projects through the full lifecycle, from concept development through manufacturing and installation.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and design standards.
- Coordinate prototype/mock-up development, testing, and implementation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, production, quality, and project teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Review production processes and assist with the introduction of new products and system improvements.
- Provide technical support and guidance on facade and architectural systems.
- Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and engineering records.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of design, drafting, or technical design experience within facade, curtain wall, window wall, glazing, railing, or related commercial building systems.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Inventor or other 3D modeling software is an asset.
- Experience producing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation packages.
- Manufacturing or fabrication environment experience is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of facade systems, construction detailing, and installation methods.
Work Environment
- Full-time, in-office role.
- Occasional site visits requiring PPE.
- Limited travel as required.
- Flexibility to support project deadlines when needed.
