About the Role
You will enjoy a diverse range of projects on which to hone your skills, a team committed to your career progression, and the chance to learn from multidisciplinary professionals across British Columbia, Yukon, Calgary, Edmonton, Canmore and Saskatoon. You will be exposed to the entire project lifecycle as you make the following valuable contributions:
- Prepare detailed structural designs from concept through tender to construction for commercial, recreational, municipal, industrial and residential buildings in mass timber, light-frame wood, masonry, concrete and steel.
- Assemble and review structural drawings, calculations and reports in collaboration with your team.
- Coordinate with architectural, civil, landscape, process, mechanical and electrical team members, as well as contractors and suppliers, as each project requires.
- Participate in project meetings.
- Complete assessments and prepare reports for a variety of buildings and structures.
- Support construction administration through field reviews and follow-up reporting, with local travel that may extend to remote locations as required.
- Complete submittal and shop drawing reviews and respond to queries that arise during construction.
- Follow quality assurance practices and documentation standards on every project.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including creating and applying custom spreadsheets, and stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with, advise and support team members in other groups and offices.
Who we are looking for:
Your application or cover letter should include:
- How you bring a strong work ethic and a client-focused approach to your work.
- An example of how your organizational, communication, or problem-solving skills contributed to a successful project.
Your resume must display:
- A degree in civil or structural engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.).
- A minimum of two years of experience designing building structural systems in the building construction industry.
- Knowledge and application of structural theory, the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian design standards, particularly as they apply to wood, steel and reinforced concrete.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, SAFE, S-FRAME, ETABS, WoodWorks Sizer or similar.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Assets:
- Experience in a consulting engineering environment.
- Experience in the field or construction sites.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a variety of clients and consultant team members to deliver projects successfully.
What ISL Offers
Depending on your experience level, the salary range (based on a 40-hour work week) is:
$75,000 - $95,000 + Competitive annual bonus incentives.
