Nature of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, and/or Lead Hand Maintenance and within the policies, standards and procedures of Vita Health Products, this position will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex breakdowns, setting up high speed packaging equipment, rebuilding equipment and special maintenance related projects as assigned.
Specific Duties:
- Responsible for overhauling, troubleshooting and repairing equipment to a high level of standard and with minimal guidance/direction/assistance.
- Fabrication of parts for repairs and projects.
- Setting up high speed packaging equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing of Packaging and Manufacturing equipment.
- Contacts equipment manufacturers as required.
- Performing PM tasks as per PM work order
- Assist in developing PM task lists, spare parts lists, and execute validation documents.
- Prepares and completes corrective work orders.
- Maintains a safe and debris-free work environment and follow company safety rules, SOP’s, GMP’s, and HPFBI mandates as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills
- Red Seal Certification as a Licensed Millwright.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a certified tradesperson.
- Successfully completed 4 year apprenticeship with an accredited trade school.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical/food processing/chemical processing operations including Packaging equipment, Manufacturing equipment, HVAC, Plumbing, Compressors, boilers, PLC’s, welding, fabricating, machining, electrical/electronics and CMMS software preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills are required.
- Strong fabrication skills relating to repairs and projects.
- TIG and ARC welding ability.
- Ability to carry out tasks with minimal guidance, direction and assistance.
- Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Familiar with facility maintenance, boilers, compressors, water systems, HVAC, etc.
- Ability to safely and efficiently use hand and shop tools.
