Job Title: Senior Solution Architect – Azure Application Architecture
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ months (possible extension)
Role Overview: Seeking a hands-on Senior Solution Architect to design and deliver scalable, secure, interactive business applications on Microsoft Azure. The focus is on financial data applications supporting reporting, data adjustments, scenario modelling and analytical workflows - not data engineering or data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise-scale, data-driven applications.
- Design application layers spanning front-end UI, backend services, APIs and data platforms.
- Define application components, integration patterns, security, networking and infrastructure.
- Evaluate technology options, architectural trade-offs and implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into technical designs.
- Provide hands-on architectural leadership throughout development and implementation.
Must-Have Skills
- Extensive experience in enterprise application and solution architecture.
- Strong expertise in UI, backend services, APIs, microservices and integration patterns.
- Mandatory hands-on Microsoft Azure architecture experience, including Azure SQL, App Service, Azure Functions and AKS.
- Experience building interactive applications with reporting, analytics, scenario modelling or data-adjustment capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of application design patterns, security, networking and infrastructure.
- Ability to communicate and justify technical architecture decisions clearly.
Nice to Have
- Banking, financial services, risk, finance or capital management experience.
- Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, simulation or regulatory applications.
- Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks and backend development.
Screening Priority
Prioritize application-focused Azure Solution Architects who have owned the design and implementation of interactive business applications. Data architects, BI/reporting specialists and infrastructure-only architects are not the primary fit.
