IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Vice President, IT Infrastructure & Operations
Reports to: Chief Information Officer
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Duration: 4-6 Months

Our client a large, complex Canadian professional services organization seeking an accomplished Interim Vice President, IT Infrastructure & Operations to provide experienced leadership through an important period of transition.
This is an excellent mandate for a seasoned technology executive who combines deep expertise in infrastructure, cloud and IT operations with the ability to lead strategically. The successful executive will step into the organization, quickly establish credibility, provide stability and support to the technology team, and help shape the future vision and operating model for IT Operations.
This is not a caretaker assignment. The organization is looking for a leader who can roll up their sleeves when required, provide strong day-to-day leadership, and simultaneously look forward, identifying opportunities to strengthen how technology services are organized, governed and delivered.
The Mandate
The Interim VP will provide leadership across the organization's IT infrastructure and operations environment, while working closely with the broader technology leadership team.
Key priorities will include:
- Provide stability, leadership and direction to the IT Operations function during a period of transition.
- Lead the organization's infrastructure and cloud operations, ensuring reliable and scalable technology services.
- Operate effectively within a predominantly Microsoft and cloud-based environment, including Microsoft Azure.
- Provide strong leadership and support to service management and application development/support functions.
- Assess the current IT Operations environment, identifying immediate priorities, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Strengthen operational disciplines across service delivery, infrastructure, applications, vendors and technology support.
- Work closely with technology and business leaders to ensure operational priorities remain aligned with organizational needs.
- Help the organization rethink and reshape its future vision for IT Operations, including structure, capabilities, processes and operating model.
- Provide coaching, direction and support to technology leaders and teams, establishing clear accountability and priorities.
- Ensure an appropriate focus on operational resilience, business continuity and technology risk
- Responsibility for Change Advisory Board governance, vendor management, IT Operations budgets, service desk/end-user support, disaster recovery, KPIs and SLAs.
The Ideal Interim Executive
We are looking for a seasoned, pragmatic technology leader who has successfully stepped into complex environments during periods of change.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Significant executive-level experience leading IT infrastructure and operations in a large, complex organization.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft environments, cloud infrastructure and Azure.
- Strong understanding of IT service management, infrastructure, enterprise application support and operational delivery.
- The ability to move comfortably between strategy and execution, from advising senior leadership on the future operating model to working directly with teams on immediate operational priorities.
- Experience assessing technology organizations and identifying opportunities to improve structure, processes, capabilities and service delivery.
- Strong vendor and third-party management experience.
- Experience leading teams through transition, ambiguity and organizational change.
- A collaborative, calm and credible leadership style with the ability to quickly build confidence among both technology and business stakeholders.
- A bias toward action and the ability to make meaningful progress within the compressed timeframe of an interim mandate.
