NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Manager, Finance Operations will oversee month-end reporting, financial consolidation, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies. This role also supports treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and foreign exchange risk, as well as managing commodity tax analysis and tax provisions.Additionally, the Manager, Finance Operations will maintain internal controls, manage the employee expense program, and drive process improvements. They will assist with budgeting, forecasting, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product and business initiatives.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Consolidation and Month-End Reporting
- Contribute to the month-end reporting and close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, reports and analysis with investigation of unusual items
- Initial review of monthly subsidiary results and financial reporting packages with local management
- Prepare related-party reconciliations and loan schedules
- Responsible for the posting of all consolidation entries
- Ensure monthly consolidation of financial results is completed accurately within reporting timelines
- Analyze foreign currency impact on results including assessing the reasonability of foreign exchange gains/losses and translation of foreign subsidiaries
- Support the preparation of the month-end reporting package and ad hoc reporting requirements
- Monitor compliance to finance accounting policies, support implementation of changes where required
- Monitor accounting policy compliance with US GAAP and support implementation of changes where required
- Support the annual audit process, including preparing supporting schedules and coordinating audit responses
Treasury
- Assist in the Treasury management function, including preparing with the weekly cash flow forecast
- Support the optimization of financial processes for working capital management through accurate cash forecasting
- Assist in managing cash management activities, including evaluating cash and foreign exchange requirements
- Support the evaluation, recommendation and execution of foreign exchange trades as required
- Continuously assess the evolving foreign exchange risk and support the development of strategies to mitigate economic, translational and transactional exposures
Tax
- Complete monthly commodity tax analysis, filings and other reporting requirements
- Research and analyze commodity tax determinations to support and strengthen the company’s position on the taxability of products sold
- Prepare the documents required and support third party preparation of the Company’s tax provision and tax returns
- Maintain contemporaneous documentation required to support intercompany and global transfer pricing analysis
- Assist with tax projects as needed
Internal Controls
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a documented system of accounting policies and control procedures (internal controls matrix)
- Maintain and regularly review business process narratives to ensure they are accurate, up to date, and compliant with internal control requirements
- Oversee the employee expense program, including policy enforcement, expense report review, reimbursement processing, and continuous improvement of related procedures and controls.
Budget
- Assist in preparing the budget and forecasts for general and admin expenses
- Analyze the monthly general and admin expenses, comparing to budget with variance analysis
- Support the preparation of Divisional Reporting
Continuous Improvement
- Challenge existing processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvements, including reporting and automation, while constantly focusing on streamlining work and providing value-add services to the business
Other
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial support for new product introductions and commercial initiatives
- Follow all company safety rules, policies, procedures, ISO guidelines, and SOP’s, act on or respond to reported unsafe activities, procedures, or conditions
- Work with others to promote and achieve the objectives of the company in a positive atmosphere of co-operation and teamwork
- Any other duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- University degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business Management/Administration
- CPA-CA Designation or CPA Designation with Audit Firm Experience
- Possesses a minimum of 5 years progressive finance experience
- Experience working with a private equity owned or publicly traded company is an asset
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS and reporting requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Experience with a manufacturing company is an asset

LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must be proficient in written & spoken English
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Solid keyboarding and MS Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central, D365 or Dynamics AX is an asset
WORK ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY
- The majority of the time will be spent in an office environment
- Travel to Company sites may be required, though less than 5% of the time.
- Employee will comply with all Health and Safety requirements
- A hair net shall be worn at all times in the extrusion area, environmentally controlled rooms and in the warehouse area
- Safety devices, such as glasses and earplugs must be worn as required
