Compensation: $41.66 per hour.
Regular Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at client's downtown Toronto office, close to TTC station.
Position Reports To: Manager, Financial Reporting.
Responsibilities Summary:
Support financial reporting and analysis processes, including monthly and quarterly close of the AR and AP sub-ledger, journal entries, payment requisitions, analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and maintenance of various schedules, supporting documents, accounts payable and receivable processes. Contribute to implementation of continuous improvement projects. Demonstrate sound judgement in consideration of financial resources and maintain strict compliance with organization financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare month-end and annual journal entry adjustments, accruals, prepaids, amortization, re-allocation and corrections in order to accurately reflect financial information, such as cost allocations and account coding corrections.
- Analyze financial records, reconcile G/L accounts and bank accounts, prepare journal entries and investigate and address any discrepancies, prepare schedules for reporting and audit purposes, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Prepare Fixed Asset Capitalization and Amortization entries, update schedules and maintain backup documents.
- Assist with daily cash balance reports and system validation reports.
- Initiate notification of inter-bank transfers and respond to cheque clearing confirmation requests.
- Complete accounts receivable and cost recovery functions, review and interpret service agreements, and prepare billings accordingly. Close and balance sub-ledger reports to GL.
- Reconcile General Leger Balance Sheet accounts and maintain related reconciliation schedules. Reconcile salaries and wage advance accounts.
- Maintain accounting records and prepare client reports and statements. Respond to inquiries.
- Update GL data files and perform financial reporting/account analyses for financial reports for Auditors as required.
- Additional accounting and financial analysis responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Business or Accounting.
Professional Credentials: Completed or close to completion of CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 3+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis.
Preferred Sector Experience: Not-for-profit / public sector accounting experience preferred.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (will be tested).
- Advanced MS Excel (will be tested).
- Demonstrated experience interacting with relational databases and BI tools (may be tested).
- General strong proficiency with MSOffice applications, numeracy, and attention to detail (may be tested).
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management programs.
- Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.

- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
