4-Month Co-op Term | January 2027 to April 2027 (Potential for Extension)
This opportunity provides the selected candidate with rotational experience across the Business Management teams supporting Operations GO & UP. Through hands-on assignments, the student will gain practical experience in contract management, operational technology and project delivery, operational readiness, and performance reporting.
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

The Operations GO & UP Business Management team is seeking up to two (2) Co-op Students. Through up to three rotations across key business areas, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience while contributing to day-to-day activities, projects, data analysis, performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
What will I be doing?
Through planned rotations, you will work with several Business Management teams and contribute to activities that support the safe, reliable, and effective delivery of GO and UP operations.
Contract Management
- Support day-to-day contract administration activities, including maintaining contract records, tracking deliverables, and organizing documentation.
- Assist with monitoring contract milestones, invoices, performance measures, risks, issues, and upcoming renewals.
- Help prepare contract summaries, presentations, meeting materials, and action logs.
- Collect and validate information from business units and vendors to support contract reviews and decision-making.
Operational Technology and Project Delivery
- Support the planning and delivery of operational technology and business improvement projects from initiation through implementation.
- Assist with project schedules, work plans, status reports, risk and issue logs, decision records, and other project controls.
- Coordinate with operational, technical, and business stakeholders to track actions, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables.
- Help prepare meeting materials, document decisions, and follow up on actions to support timely project delivery.
Operational Readiness, Performance and Reporting
- Assist with extracting, cleaning, validating, analyzing, and presenting operational performance data using Excel, Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python/R, or similar analytical tools, with guidance from the team.
- Maintain operating statistics and reporting inputs, and help produce daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc operational reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Support operational readiness activities by tracking requirements, risks, issues, actions, and decision points; gathering information from stakeholders; and identifying trends or opportunities for improvement.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Required
- Currently enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary co-op program and eligible to complete a co-op work term as part of your academic requirements, with plans to return to school following the work term.
- Strong analytical, organizational, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Interest in public transit, contract management, project delivery, operational technology, business operations, or performance reporting.
Assets
- Enrolled in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, Data Analytics, Economics, Project Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Previous academic, volunteer, work, or co-op experience in a business, project, contract, technology, data, or operational environment.
- Familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools such as Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python/R, Databricks, or similar software.
- Experience developing and maintaining spreadsheets, reports, or presentations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to collect, validate, organize, and interpret information.
Additional Information
- The student will rotate through Business Services teams supporting Operations GO & UP. Specific assignments and the duration of each rotation will be based on business priorities and learning objectives.
- This role may include occasional visits to different locations, depending on assignment requirements.
