Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our client's operations team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) operations and hands-on experience operating and monitoring oil sands facilities.
This is an opportunity for an experienced operator who is comfortable working in a dynamic field environment and has a strong commitment to safety, production, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and monitor SAGD plant and field facilities.
- Monitor plant processes, equipment, wells, and operating parameters to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Perform de-oiling operations and related process activities.
- Conduct routine sampling and assist with process monitoring and analysis.
- Operate and monitor SAGD wells, including well pad and field operations.
- Participate in commissioning and start-up activities for plant and field equipment.
- Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and equipment issues.
- Perform field rounds, equipment inspections, and operational checks.
- Complete operating logs, reports, and required documentation accurately.
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and other operations personnel to resolve equipment and process issues.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, operating, and regulatory procedures.
- Participate in emergency response activities and safety programs as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of SAGD operating experience.
- Minimum 4th Class Power Engineer certification.
- 3rd or 2nd Class Power Engineer certification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with SAGD plant and field operations.
- Experience with de-oiling, sampling, commissioning, and well operations.
- Strong understanding of process operations, equipment, and production systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot operating issues and make sound decisions in the field.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental performance.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in a remote/field environment.

- SAGD start-up and commissioning
- Well pad and well operations
- De-oiling and water/oil treatment processes
- Steam generation and distribution
- Field sampling and laboratory coordination
- Process troubleshooting
